September   28  1902 
Born in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

April  1922 
Enrolled at the Tokyo Art Schoo1
the present Tokyo university of Arts

January  1924 
Left the School,travelled to Paris and studied with Fujita
 and was Influenced by the French Schoo1.

1926 
Exhibited
Seashore Sightat the Salon dAutomne.

September  1927 
Return to Japan.


May  1928 
Had his first one-man show at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo.


May  1935 
Married Miss Kimi Kasono
built a new house and a studio at 316 JiyugaokaMeguro-ku.

December  1936 
Had one-man show at the Nichido Gallery in Tokyo
followed by shows  there in 19371938.193919401941.

September  1937 
Became a Regular member of the Nikakai Group.


Autumn  1941 
Travelled to
 scketch at ChengteJohol and ShenyangHarbinManchuria with Takanori Oguisu.

Autumn   1944 
Evacuated to Mori
Takarae vinageTome-gunMiyagi Prefecture with Sentaro lwata Misao Kono Tokubei Hanayagi and their fammes.

Spring  1946 
Return to Tokyo.


September  1947 
Exhibited
Circusand Spring at reorganized Nikakai Group

December  Had one-man show at the Hokusyo Gllery in Tokyofollowed by showsthere in 19481950.

August  1950 
Came to America with his wife
settled in New York.

Spring  1951 
Moved to 49 East 9th St. N.Y.C.


July  1953 
Moved to 51 East 8th St.
 Autumn  Had his first one-man show in America at The Betty Parsons Gallery followed by shows there in 1955 1956195919621964196719691971197319761978.

1954 
Awarded the Art lnstitute of Chicago AnnuaI Prize.


1955 
Awarded the Carnegie lnternational Prize
Pittsburghand the American Academy of Arts and Letters Prize.

March  1957 
Awarded Columbia
South Carolina Biennia1 1st Prize.

January  7  1958 
Return to Japan after seven years
absence.

June   Awarded the 29th Biennale Venice and UNESC0.

June   Had one-man show at TakashimayaTokyo.

January  1960 
Awarded Ford Foundation
Art Prize. Became a citizen of the united States.

October  1961 
Was appointed as a member of the jury at the Carnegie lnternational
 Pittsburgh.

December   Had one-man show at Yayoi Gallery in Tokyo.

September   1963 
Awarded the Dunn lnternational Prize in the Beaverbrook Art Galler
FrederictonCanada.

October  1965

Received the Mainichi Art Award.


1970  Became m in a heart trouble.

1972  Continuously fighting mness.

September  1974 
Entered the Presbyterian Hospital at New York,underwent an operation
of heart trouble.

February   1979 
Had one-man show at the Gallery Mukai
Tokyo.

March to April  1982  The Retrospective o:f Kenzo Okadas Paintings1932-1981 held in The Seibu Museum of ArtTokyoand Fukuoka Art Museum

August 17  1982
Died of a heart ailment Sunday in Tokyo
